Here’s How You Can Get Paid To Get A New Job

Here’s How You Can Get Paid To Get A New Job

To encourage more high demand jobs in a local town, one community grant changed the game for those seeking a career in aviation.

After receiving a grant for $500,000 from the Wichita Community Foundation, WSU Tech created opportunity to move more individuals to the city for work opportunities.

The creation of a new aviation program is on the rise and aims to break barriers and provide opportunities for individuals in Wichita, Kansas.

What’s even better is that the program will pay you to move to Wichita and participate in their program, what more could you ask for?

The Promise MOVE Program at WSU Tech is offering opportunities for individuals to gain hands on experience in the aviation field and guarantees job placement upon completion.

After a successful launch, the program is preparing for its second year of the aviation program and making it easy for all applicants and future students. In addition to relocation costs, the MOVE Program is a scholarship that will handle tuition and fees costs and living expenses during the program.

With companies like Spirit Airlines announcing an opening for more than 1,000 jobs, Wichita is providing a solution. Making sure that students have not only the opportunity but also gain the knowledge, the MOVE program is bridging the gap and bringing students closer to the opportunity to land a rewarding career.

With massive success in the first year of the MOVE program, all 50 participants were offered jobs with Spirit Aerosystems as well as Textron Aviation.

The school is keeping the scholarship and program going to encourage students to seek nontraditional careers. “This fall the only program eligible for the new scholarship will be aviation sheet metal mechanic, said WSU Tech spokesman Andy McFayden. The school hopes to expand the initiative to include other programs such as CNC machine operation, composite fabrication, surgical technology or dental assistant.”

This program will not only help connect students with an aviation career but also promote economical acceleration of the city. By recruiting individuals from other states and cities and paying for their expenses, WSU is eliminating a major barrier and removing excuses from why a person may not consider Wichita to propel their career forward.

If you’re interested in the aviation field and ready to pack your bags for Wichita, Kansas, apply for the program or request more information about the program by using this form.

These Are The Top Apps To Make Friends in 2019

These Are The Top Apps To Make Friends in 2019

Whether you’re going away to college, or starting a job, moving to a new city is a terrifying endeavor. The hardest part of moving though, is leaving behind the people you love.  After all, if you’re an introvert like I am, those friendships were not earned lightly. And even if you’re an extrovert and making new friends comes easily to you, there’s a good chance your new environment is going to put some stress on your time and your ability to get out there and shine.

Regardless of the situation you find yourself in, prioritizing new friendship is a great way to make your move easier. And, with the advent of technology what better way to expand your social circle than with an app? So,  without further ado, here are 10 apps that are perfect for making friends in 2019!

Bumble BFF

Bumble BFF is the same concept as the original Bumble app, but just for platonic friendships.  You make a profile with photos and a short bio, as you would for Bumble, and you swipe left or right on potential matches. The big difference between the apps is that for Bumble BFF, starting a conversation isn’t gendered, so it can be on either person to make the first move before the match expires. I tried Bumble BFF and unfortunately there weren’t any BFFs within 30 miles.  When I opened it up to 50 miles and 100 miles I had about 10 people to swipe through before I ran out. This doesn’t mean you won’t be successful using it if you live in a larger city though!

      Platforms: iOS, Android

Meet My Dog

Turn your pup into a way to socialize with Meet My Dog! Your pet could be an easy option for making new friends, and it certainly gives you a topic to break the ice with. Meet My Dog works like a social network for canines, although their owners have to fill out all the profile information.

      Cost: Free

      Platforms: iOS, Android

We3

If a one-on-one makes you feel too awkward for the first time meeting a new friend, go for safety in numbers with the We3 app.  This app connects you to two new people rather than just one. Similar to other apps, you set your own interests and swipe through potential friends in your surrounding area, and create your “tribe” of 3.

      Cost: Free

      Platforms: iOS, Android, PC

Friender

Friender is an activity focused app, so you create your profile based on activities you enjoy. Only users with at least one common interest will be suggested for you. This app only suggests users who live in your area.

      Cost: Free

      Platforms: iOS

Hey! VINA

Hey! Vina is a women-only friend-finding app. You swipe to find matches. In this case, however, you’re looking for platonic friends based on shared likes and interests, rather than partners whose profile pictures catch your eye.

      Cost: Free

      Platforms: iOS

Meetup

Meetup is an app based on attending events, rather than meeting people. But the two definitely go hand-in-hand. Chances are, if you attend events, join a local club or class of your interest, you will meet people that you can build a friendship with! The number of events and activities the app covers is impressive. Many of the events are free, although some charge for attendance. The freemium app costs nothing if you plan to attend Meetup events, but if you want to organize your own, you’ll have to start paying $9.99 a month.

      Cost: Free – $9.99/month

      Platforms: iOS, Android

Nextdoor

Maybe your best friend is living only a few doors down from you. The Nextdoor app aims to connect you with your neighbors. You start by putting your address in, and then get in touch with people near you by such things as getting involved in local events, finding babysitters, and putting up classified listings.

      Cost: Free

      Platforms: iOS, Android

Rendezwho

Rendezwho is a very focused app. This app aims to match you with that one friend you are really going to connect with, regardless of where you live. It includes results from all over the world. You can use messages, GIFs, and quizzes to see if you can find your new best friend.

      Cost: Free – $0.99

      Platforms: iOS, Android

Patook

Patook connects people through relying on a points system. Once users create their profile, they are asked to rank various traits (gender, interests, languages, etc.) of their preference. The app then matches you with those who accumulated the most points based on the traits you ranked. In order to connect to a person, the user can either send an anonymous message or both users must mutually rank each other. Along with finding people who match with what you consider important, there are also public discussion boards that are seen in reference to your location.

      Cost: Free

      Platforms: iOS, Android, Mac, Pc

Peanut

Peanut is a new app for mothers to meet other mothers, founded by Michelle Kennedy, who worked at the dating app Badoo before giving birth in 2013. She felt very isolated as a new mother, and wanted to find people who felt similar feelings and understood what she was going through. Postpartum depression can make women feel especially alone, so it is great to have an app where they can connect with someone navigating through the same emotions.

How To Make Bank Selling Your Used Clothes On Depop

How To Make Bank Selling Your Used Clothes On Depop

One of the fastest growing home businesses is selling used clothes and unwanted items around the house, on the internet and this trend is not new.  However, a semi-new way to do it, is on an app called Depop. Many people are cleaning out their closets in hopes of making a few extra bucks. But, once you have the hang of selling online, it’s actually possible to make Depop a second income.

I got started selling on Depop when I was helping one of my girlfriend clean her closets. As we were listing her clothes for sale on Craigslist, she suggested we also look online. A few searches later and we were listing her clothes on Ebay, Mercari, and of course Depop. While I’ve written about selling on Ebay before (my most profitable selling adventure- read about that here), I’ve yet to write about my friend’s success with Depop. So today I thought I would let her take over and describe how to sell on Depop and make bank.

Getting Started to Sell on Depop

It was a very simple process to sign up for Depop for her account. You can use the Apple App store or Google Play store, and download the Depop app. Then just fill out the profile, hit the sell button, and upload a picture of the item you want to sell. Fill in the details about your item, the description and price and then hit publish.

There is no cost for listing items for sale on Depop. But, if you end up selling something you will be charged 10 cents. Other fees can be incurred depending on the payment methods you choose. It’s important to be aware of the charges ahead of time so you can calculate out how “worth it” selling on Depop will be for you.

Sellers can receive their money one of two different ways: Paypal or the Depop Wallet. Your buyers will be able to use a debit card, credit card, or Paypal balance (if you choose Paypal).

Make sure what you are selling is described clearly and accurately. Just like any store, you can use discounts and sales as incentives to sell your clothing. Buyers will also be able to leave reviews that other buyers can read, so you’ll want to make sure to have the best customer service you can have.

Like any other selling site online, you will have some restriction on what you will be able to sell. Do not sell anything that is counterfeit. Depop is very strict on forgery items and anything that is fake and you could get your account suspended.

Presentation is the Key Selling Point

Just like any business you will need to put effort into your product pictures. Clothing needs to be freshly washed, ironed if needed, and laid out nicely. My personal favorite style are flat lays which make a great “first” photo.  You’ll want to follow that photo up with pictures of the product that shows what it really looks like and how it hangs.

Truthful Description of Items

My friends and I like to help each other with the descriptions that we write for our items. We all feel that a good solid truthful description will reduce any misunderstanding of what condition the item is in, what color it really is, the size, and what kind of material it is made of. Give your items fair prices. You do not want to over price yourself just to make an extra buck on one item. Price everything fairly and do some research on items that you may have questions on and learn recognize pieces that aren’t worth your time with the Depop fees, shipping etc.

When I write up my descriptions, I find that this is a perfect place to discuss my refund, exchange and shipment policies. For me and my friends, we all believe that it is better to not charge any shipping charges. If the buyer sees no shipping charges, they are more likely to buy from one of our sites then a site with charges. Make sure that after a buyer has bought an item that it gets shipped within a week. If there is going to be a delay, email your customer and let them know about the delay.

Special Offers

I sometimes run special offers to increase sales.  The key to doing special offers is to create excitement and drive new buyers to your site. I usually do this by picking a couple of my most viewed items and adding them together. For instance, buy a cute sweater and get a matching handbag. The change of seasons is great too. Seasonal items go on sale as the seasons change.

Instagram discounts are also a great idea. To help build up your brand and profile, offer Instagram followers a 10 per cent discount. This is where a lot of your followers will be found in the first place. All the buyer has to do is say they follow you on Instagram and give you their username on Instagram. You then apply the 10 per cent discount on the items that they buy. You will find that this is a great way to advertise your Depop profile and will increase the number of followers for you.

Research Your Niche

When first stating out on Depop, it’s a good idea to become familiar with a niche or area you want to sell in. Depop is a popular place for teens to shop, so learning what’s trendy might be a great place to start.  Other items can do well too though. Especially rare and unique items. If you know what you are looking at, you can make money selling almost anything.

Know Your Buyers

We all try and get to know our buyers. We look for them on Facebook and read their profiles and try to talk to them through the chat lines. All of us have leaned our lesson to get our payments up front now. Most people are honest and we do our best to be as honest as we can with all our buyers. We feel that by being honest with them will make them a great repeat buyer. Having a faithful following will increase your chances of sales. Your followers will see new items all the time and will most likely buy from you a second time.

Shipping Hints

Another helpful hint is to go out and buy some mailing bags and a large roll of bubble wrap, for the things your selling. Your customers will be happy to know that you took the time to safely package up what they have just bought from you. The mailing bags come in a variety of sizes and are easy to address with a marker. I inform my buyers that it will take anywhere from 3-5 days to get to them.

Make sure you are mailing the proper item to the right person. Double check everything. Verify the that buyers address is the same that is listed on their PayPal account. Use a tracking number to keep track of packages you have sent out is a good idea. This will also act as a fraud-prevention for you and your customer.

Interact with Your Buyers

I also like to get back to my customers right away. Some have questions that need to be answered and some may want to barter with me. What ever they have in mind, I still answer all questions they have and I do it right away. Seeing the notifications as they come into my phone is a big help. I have Depop right on my home page on my phone so I do not miss anything.

Add a Simple Note to Your Buyer

Give your buyer a simple little thank you note in every order. Buyers appreciate the attention and will remember your kindness. Make sure you write their first name on the note and wish them well on their purchase. It does not take much time and it may even have that customer coming back for more items. You may just want to say thank you or you could add a little story about the item. What ever you choose, it will surprise your buyer and they will keep you in mind the next time they are looking for items. That’s pretty much it! While I can’t guarantee you’ll become rich by following these tips, I know that if you consistently follow the above advice you should be able to make your Depop adventure profitable.
