What’s In My Bag – Summer Edition

What’s In My Bag – Summer Edition

Summer is my favorite time of the year.

It’s the time to hit up the beaches and rivers, get a suntan, read your favorite book, lay under the stars, go camping and so many other things!

This summer I’ve compiled a list of my must have items that fit in my (nearly backpack sized) bag!

1. Hydro Flask

The Hydro Flask has become a super popular water bottle in the world of trendy outdoors people-and for good reason.  It keeps your water ice cold all day.

2. Sun Bum Lip Balm

Everyone has a good summer chap stick, one that I’ve recently tried and fallen in love with is the Sun Bum Lip Balm with SPF 30.

3. Momoup Makeup Blotting Papers

Let’s face it, I’m a legitimate child, and initially bought these because I liked the dispenser. However, upon trying them I can testify that they do in fact work to blot up all of that lovely sweat that summer brings AND they’re childishly adorable.

4. Quick Fix Spray

I don’t know about you, but I’m a sweaty pig girl in the summer AND I struggle with acne.  So, one thing I like to keep on hand is some after workout face spray called quick fix spray which is made by Pulse Skincare #notsponbutwishitwas.

Now, I know this sounds like a makeup setting product, but it’s actually a light spray of essential oils and vitamins that is made to keep your skin from breaking out if you can’t wash your face right after a workout.  Being a sweaty pig girl, I like to keep some in my bag for every day sweaty occasions… you know, like walking outside.

5. Sunglasses

Sometimes I feel like I have the world’s most sensitive eyes, so I haul around sunglasses rain or shine…. Especially rain though.  Those grey skies are bright people! Currently I have this pair of Peppers because I like to pretend I’m still an outdoor badass ( I haven’t been rock climbing in three years) but, I do have these Ray-Bans on my wish list too.

So…. Those are pretty much what I’m hauling around with me on the daily this summer.  What about you guys?  Anything awesome to add?

How to Use LinkedIn Like A Boss

How to Use LinkedIn Like A Boss

You’ve probably already heard a million and one times that even as a new college grad, you need to have a presence on LinkedIn.

Upload that professional photo, fill out the info and exaggerate just a little bit to add some flare to your profile.

Then you sit back and watch the job notifications roll into your email with little or no hope of ever qualifying to get the job you really want.  (Maybe this is just my life?).

What most of us aren’t told though, is that LinkedIn actually has some really cool features that can use to make yourself stand out from all the other new grads.

1 Keep Up To Date

LinkedIn not only has a trending storylines feature that was recently releases to keep you up to date on your industry news, but it’s also a good idea to follow influencers and companies in the industry you want to work in.  This will allow you to follow the trends.

2. Be Social

Take some time every day to be social on LinkedIn.  Remember, at its core LinkedIn is a social media website.  Share stories within your industry, and comment and like posts within your network.  This can be the best way to show off your qualities and make new connections in your industry.

3 Keep learning!

I recently learned that LinkedIn has a learning section that offers a TON of courses in all sorts of industries.  Just like Lynda.com and other platforms for continuing education, it does cost, but you can get one month for free. USE IT!

When I graduated with a marketing degree I learned companies wanted me to have photo editing and video editing skills because of the emphasis on visual components of sales.   Learning this and then having access to a free Photoshop course would have been amazing.
